Renovation of Luxury Villa, Los Monteros

Our client’s brief – who has a senior engineering background – was to modernise and extend his villa to create a perfect place for his family and friends to entertain and relax in.

As with any project, it is important to fully understand the client´s vision, any specific materials to be used and finishing details. We agreed on the preliminary architectural drawings showing the layout and specifications of all materials in conjunction with a topographical survey.  Then we presented the detailed architectural plans for approval at the local Town Hall, Marbella.

Once all the excavation work had been completed, we started micro piling to ensure the structural stability of the new terrace system.  A lot of time and careful planning were spent on the substructure of the building process, as this was complex. We then extended the new basement level of the villa to create a new shower/sauna room and operations room for the swimming pool, as well as a new water fall system.

We extended the existing interior kitchen area and designed a more modern and contemporary one, with red lacquered flat panel cabinets, stunning black granite marble worktops and splashbacks, stainless steel appliances, an island and a double bowl sink with modern tiled flooring and walls.

A new modern sauna room was built along with a shower room and a comfortable area to relax in afterwards. All new terraces were added to the villa, as well as a natural stone staircase leading to the new swimming pool area.

Our professional thatchers and carpenters designed and built an African-themed pergola next to the swimming pool to provide shade and a relaxing area for the family to enjoy.  This was equipped with a music system and WIFI.

We also designed and built a new barbecue area on the upper terrace level with slate work surfaces and storage cupboards with a wash hand basin to match.  This area was centred on the new fountain system to create a relaxing environment. The swimming pool was refurbished as the existing pipework needed upgrading.  The pool was regrouted and cleaned.  We also installed a new high-tech automated pool cover system using polycarbonate slats, which reduces the evaporation of water and chemicals by 68%.  The slatted cover also keeps the pool cleaner, and the solar slats allow the sun to heat the pool, free of cost.

The lawn area was completely returfed to create a perfectly manicured lawn, and modern stainless steel fencing was installed around the perimeter.  A wooden carport with exterior blinds was built to the front of the villa to provide shade for vehicles during the heat of the summer.

Our client also wanted a sunken Jacuzzi placed in the terrace area near the swimming pool, which we installed. Finally, the villa was extensively rewired to prepare for high-speed fibre optic cables as well as audio, ready to install a Bose surround system and a state of the art security system.
